Daredevil's Charlie Cox Says There's No Plans For Netflix Stars To Appear In Marvel Movies

If you're hoping to see the Defenders cross paths with the Avengers, you should probably be prepared to wait a long time. Daredevil star Charlie Cox says Marvel's Netflix TV stars aren't likely to show up in a Marvel Studios movie anytime soon.

"There was no conversation about joining any of the movies," Cox told CNET at a Netflix event in Paris, though he was open to the idea. "Who wouldn't want to be in the highest grossing film of all time?"

Despite being part of a universe whose mantra is "it's all connected," the Netflix series have a distinctly darker tone than the Marvel Studios films, so it's understandable that they'd remain separated. It's hard to see Cox's dour Matt Murdock conversing with Robert Downey Jr.'s flippant Tony Stark without there being some dissonance, which isn't to say it wouldn't still be pretty cool.

Cox has his own crossover to look forward to in Marvel's Defenders, which will bring together the stars of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Cox says the series are "very different shows...I'm interested to know how tonally they will become one."

Next up on the Marvel-Netflix slate is Luke Cage, set to premiere on Sept. 30.
