Fan Art Friday: The Captivating Artwork Of Louis Davilla Wiyono

In comics, fans are used to seeing feats and premises take place that just are not possible in reality, and some are better about making the reader or viewer feel part of that world than others. It's safe to say that artist Louis Davilla Wiyono is in that elusive group.

Wiyono is a professional illustrator and graphic designer from Indonesia, and when he's not creating beautiful and charming worlds on paper, he runs the Wizmaya Graphic Design Studio. He specializes in blending cartoonish designs with fantastical worlds full of vivid colors. Even when those colors are more muted, as in his Ramen! piece, he still finds ways to incorporate pops of red, bright green, and turquoise into the mix.

His art truly transports you to another world, like you just entered midway through an epic story. Pieces like "Life is a Fairy Tale", where two young kids can be seen riding a flying turtle over a misty kingdom, or "Waiting", which shows a young girl, her dog, and a tiny blue pixie under a significant rainfall, only protected by the branches of a large tree.

The same goes for "Monster Cave", where a young man and his Panda sidekick are confronted with the dangers that lurk inside a beautifully lit cave. To be fair, the term "danger" is used loosely, as yes there is a snake but there is also a bunny and what looks to be a glowworm there, so not exactly the most dire circumstances, but you get the point.

He's also a fan of Disney and Marvel, and in his vast portfolio viewers can find lovely depictions of Pinocchio, Baymax and Storm, Rapunzel, and of course his lovely take on Rey and BB-8 from Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

He experiments regularly with different styles but almost always starts with a quick sketch on paper. The aforementioned "Ramen!" piece actually has a process breakdown where it shows it in sketch form first, followed by vector shaping and finally put through the painting process.
