Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theaters in just a couple of weeks, but fans of the space opera franchise are already craving more.

If you're one of those people, you're in luck. James Gunn, director of both Guardians Of The Galaxy films, made a huge announcement on his personal Facebook page.

Gunn confirmed that a third Guardians Of The Galaxy film is now in the works! Not only that. but Gunn has confirmed that he is both writing AND directing the third film. He had this to say about the announcement:

"So, after many months of ruminations and discussions, I know the answer. I could save this answer for the first, random interviewer to ask me during the press junket but instead I thought I'd share it with the most important people in the Guardiansverse – you, the fans, who have been so incredibly supportive and enthusiastic over the past five years, it has moved me to tears on a regular basis.

"So, yes, I'm returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

That's right, before the second movie even hit theaters, the Guardians franchise was given the green light for movie number three. That's not all though, as the characters from Guardians of the Galaxy are also slated to appear in Avengers: Infinity War.
