James Gunn has yet to help Marvel fans find the MCU's white whale, but the director is finally pointing fans in the right direction. For years, audiences have scoured Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 in search of its still-missing easter egg. However, it appears some fans have already come very close to sussing out the teaser.
Earlier today, Gunn took to Facebook for a live Q&A video, and it was there a fan asked about his hidden easter egg. The director took the chance to give fans an update on the easter egg, and Gunn admitted some sleuths have partially uncovered the infamous nod.
"I'm not going to let you know, but I will give you some path. There's a very secret hidden easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. Some people have gotten very, very close...to what that easter egg is," Gunn revealed.
"Maybe you've even found partial the easter egg [sic]. I haven't said you've found it because you haven't found the whole thing yet," the director continued. "You need to find the entire easter egg for me to say, 'Yes, you've found it.' It's there. It's already been partially uncovered. You just need to find the whole thing."
Gunn went on to say that another impossible easter egg made its way into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The director said the sequel's special teaser is even more obscure than that in the original film, and fans are already preparing to sleuth out the newly confirmed easter egg.
If you want to catch up on the latest theories for Gunn's first easter egg, then there is one Youtube you need to check out. During his live Q&A, the director specifically called out the channel MasterTainment for very nearly outing the easter egg. The channel has just over 25,000 subscribers, and it has dozens of videos which walk fans through the theories surrounding the missing Guardians of the Galaxy easter egg.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available for download on DigitalHD and on Blu-ray/DVD. Currently, it's available for up to 50% off on Amazon. Note: If you purchase one of the awesome products featured here, we may earn a commission.
