Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Nearing $500 Million Global Box Office

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has conquered the globe.

After two weeks at the global box office Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has earned $282.6 million internationally. Combined with the film's $145 million domestic opening weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has now earned $472.6 million worldwide, well on its way to reaching the $500 million mark.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was produced with an estimated budget of $200 million. The film is set to push the Marvel Cinematic Universe's total box office gross to over $11 billion over the course of 15 movies since Iron Man released in 2008. Marvel's The Avengers remains the universe's biggest hit with a global lifetime total of $1.5 billion. Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War each also crossed the $1 billion mark globally.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 made over $106 million internationally in its first weekend at the box office. It made roughly $124 million in its second weekend internationally, after opening major markets like China, Russia, and Korea. It's biggest takes came from China with $48 million, the United Kingdom with $35.7 million, Germany with $18.4 million, Australia with $17.2 million, and France with $16.1 million.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is off to a strong start. Fans will wait and see where it ends up at the box office in relation to its Marvel Studios brethren.
