How Spider-Man Adjusts To Real Life After Epic Civil War

It's hard to imagine how Spider-Man: Homecoming will pick up where the Wall Crawler's debut in Captain America: Civil War left off. How do you go from a climactic superhero battle royale to the focused, more personal tale that the trailers have presented?

Apparently, that's going to be a major plot point in the movie and a big motivation for Peter Parker moving forward.

As reported by Heroic Hollywood, Spider-Man's story will pick up after he meets Tony Stark, right before the huge battle against Captain America and his allies. From here, Parker gets the new suit from Tony, travels to Germany, gets his Empire Strikes Back on against Giant Man.

And then he's right back to real life, going to high school, surrounded by a bunch of normies.

If that sounds jarring to you, that's because it's supposed to be. How does a kid deal with going from fighting with/against the Avengers to having to live a normal life?

Executive producer Eric Carroll said that these two scenes juxtaposed against each other will highlight how much enjoyment Peter derives from being a superhero.

""It's kind of the first time you get to see this tone," Carroll said. "We're really excited about, and we think is fun. After seeing all this amazing, glamorous stuff, boom… hard cut to him back in his cold weather gear. Riding the subway to school. Crammed next to all the other students, riding public transportation to school and we'll realize that he's still waiting for his call from Tony."

After being introduced in Civil War, the sky is literally the limit for Spider-Man. He's made a huge impact on the biggest stage in the superhero world, and then he has to bide his time. It's a great way to transition the character between the two stories, and the jarring jump serves the plot rather than takes from it.

And judging from the trailers, Peter's impatience and eagerness to help will serve to set him back in Iron Man's eyes, as Stark is shown to take his suit back.

We'll see what happens when Peter Parker attempts to prove his worth without the suit when Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7.
