Young Jessica Returning For 'Jessica Jones' Season 2

Filming on the second season of Jessica Jones just wrapped last week, and now the production is heading straight into the studio to finish the episodes.

We've previously heard that the new season would continue delving into Jessica's past and how she got herthe super powers, which was only briefly touched on in the first season. One of the actors recently posted to social media confirming the series would have more flashbacks when it returns.

Liz Cappuccino, who played the teenaged Jessica in Season One, posted a photo of her in a recording booth, indicating that she's working on voiceover or ADR for her scenes from the new season.

ADR, or automated dialogue replacement, is a production process when actors record lines in a booth to fit over the dialogue filmed on location. It allows for a cleaner audio capture than can be recorded during a live shot. But given the use of Jessica's voiceover in many episodes, they could be setting a substantial portion of an episode in the past and make use of that younger perspective.

In the first season, Cappuccino portrayed Jessica in her youth, including the car accident that claimed the lives of her family. Jessica then goes to live with Trish Walker and her abusive mother, who was attempting to exploit the young starlet for her own gain.

But Jessica's hospital bills were paid for by a mysterious company named IGH — the same company that gave Will Simpson the strength-enhancing pills that eventually drove him insane. Jessica also developed her abilities after that accident, indicating the company was responsible for her superpowers.

Because Jessica did not know much about IGH in her adult life until Trish started digging deeper, it's unlikely that the flashbacks themselves will follow up on the mystery. They may, however, add context to Jessica developing the powers and how they shaped her into becoming the sardonic alcoholic she is as an adult.

Set reports also indicate that David Tennant's Kilgrave will continue to be a domineering presence in her life, perhaps in the form of hallucinations. The character was treated as a boogeyman for Jessica Jones in the first few episodes, with his influence having a profound and damaging effect on her mental health. That's not likely to go away so soon.

We'll learn more when Jessica Jones Season Two premieres on Netflix in 2018.
