Jessica Jones Season 2 Casts Oscar Nominee in Mystery Role

Jessica Jones season 2 is currently in production in NYC, and Marvel fans are curious about what this next chapter of Jessica's story will entail. Jessica Jones will next be seen in the August Defenders team-up event with Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, but where she'll end up after that (and what capacity she'll be in) is anyone's guess.

There's already speculation that a character from Jessica Jones season 1 could end up transforming into a major Marvel Comics villain in season 2; and now, an acclaimed actress has been added to the cast of Jessica Jones season 2, in mystery role that could be a new friend, or dangerous foe...

EW reports that The White Queen and Damages star Janet McTeer is joining Jessica Jones as an "undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica's life."

With Jessica Jones being one of the more obscure Marvel Comics heroes out there, speculation on who McTeer is playing will be hard to narrow into any kind of educated guess.

Let speculation begin...

The Defenders will launch on Netflix in August, with The Punisher expected later in 2017. Jessica Jones season 2 is expected in 2018, as is Daredevil season 3.
