Marvel Makes Major Change To Thanos

The mad titan is not what he used to be these days, but never in a million years did he expect to sink this low, well, at least low for Thanos. A major change has been made in the life of one of Marvel's premiere villains, and it will allow fans to see a much different side of the character.

Spoilers incoming for Thanos #6, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.

Thanos has grappled with some of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe, but none will be more difficult to conquer than his latest foe, mortality. That's the situation Thanos finds himself in issue #6, which has his former love Lady Death and his exiled son Thane occupying his throne. That's not enough though, so they strip the already weakened titan of his remaining powers and banish him to the dirt as a mortal.

So how did they do it? Lady Death and Thane were able to find the Phoenix egg, the reincarnated form of the Phoenix force that takes place after it is destroyed. Throughout a series of events Thane is able to procure the Phoenix force and sets about destroying the kingdom and army Thanos has built. When Thanos returns, weakened from a fight with mercenaries, he sees Death and Thane already occupying his throne, and despite Thanos' attempts to talk him out of it, Thane uses his newfound power to strip his father of his vaunted abilities.

After he rids the area of his father, Thane says "Let him see what it was like to be me. Let him be the one who is cast aside. Let him scrounge for food in the gutters like a dog. Let him be powerless. Let Thanos the mad titan see what it is like to be nothing more than a mere mortal."

It will be interesting to see how Thanos adapts to his newfound situation, but knowing him it won't be long until he is back on his feet.

Thanos #6 is written by Jeff Lemire with art by Mike Deodato Jr. The official description can be found below, and check out the gallery for the spoiler images.

Thanos' misfortunes come to a head. Thane's plans come to fruition. Time for a father-son reunion.

Thanos #6 is in stores today.
