Marvel Debuts Generations: Phoenix And Jean Grey First Look

07/12/2017 05:57 pm EDT

The Vanishing is going to play a significant part in Secret Empire, but won't fully come into focus until Marvel's Generations series, where Jean Grey and the Phoenix will also play a pivotal role.

Marvel has released a first look at the upcoming series, which pairs time-displaced Jean Grey (of the original X-Men) with the force of nature she's been avoiding all this time, the Phoenix. So, what could bring these two together? Time travel, of course, something Jean has unfortunately become intimately familiar with.

Jean has sought council from previous wielders of the Phoenix, like Rachel Grey, Quentin Quire, and Colossus, but they won't be there to help in Generations. As Marvel has said before though, Generations and Legacy, in general, is not about death, but rather life. So, many believe that the original Jean Grey will make a momentous return to the Universe, and Generations will be the place to see that happen.

It remains to be seen of course, but if the original comes back, what does that mean for Jean in the present? Ony time will tell.

You can find the solicitation details and description for the upcoming issue below, and a first look preview can be found in the gallery.

Teenage Jean Grey is willing to do whatever it takes to avoid the fate that befell her predecessor. But when Jean is cast through time and comes face-to-face with the newly possessed Phoenix, will she find the key to saving herself…or learn that her fate is sealed? But what Universe changing events will be witnessed on the final pages of this story?!
