Thor: Ragnarok EP and Director Tease Humor and Most Amazing Action in MCU History

When Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters in November 2017, it will be the seventeenth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the sixteenth from Marvel Studios (Spider-Man: Homecoming is a Sony Pictures production, technically), and even the third Thor movie, not including two Avengers films the character has also appeared in. That means there may seem to be a lack of new ways to take a film in this universe, but the folks behind Ragnarok beg to differ. In fact, they're using some big superlatives to describe the movie.

"It's going to have some of the wildest, craziest, most amazing action you've ever seen in the MCU," promised executive producer Brad Winderbaum in the "Phase 3 preview" special feature included with the Doctor Strange home release. Winderbaum specifically said that "the Thor / Hulk relationship is one that is incredible," as he revealed new concept art of the two fighting. Still, in a universe with worlds-spanning battles, that's quite the high expectations to place on fans' minds.

A significant portion of the film will reportedly be based off "Planet Hulk," a story where Hulk was exiled to a gladiator planet that he eventually took over and ruled as a fairly benevolent king. It's there that Hulk and Thor will clash. But that doesn't mean action is all you'll get out of the film. Director Taika Waititi said his focus is on blending humor and adventure in Ragnarok.

"I want to take people on an adventure that keeps people laughing along the way, but also has the spectacle," Waititi said of the movie. Sounds like fans looking for a truly unique Thor movie will get their wish this time around.

Doctor Strange is available now on Digital HD, and hits DVD and Blu-ray on February 28, 2017.

"In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

"Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins."
