Thor: Ragnarok Prelude Comic Said To Hint At Hulk's Origins

03/06/2017 10:17 pm EST

There are plenty of heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is hard to miss the Hulk amongst the line-up. The massive green behemoth is the deadly alter-ego of Bruce Banner, a renowned scientist who had his world flipped after being doused with gamma radiation. In the MCU, the Hulk was introduced to fans with The Incredible Hulk in 2008, but the franchise elected to make a casting change years later for The Avengers.

Since then, fans have continued to learn more about the Hulk despite the character's disappearing act after Avengers: Age of Ultron. This year, Banner will make his on-screen comeback in the next Thor film, and fans are curious to learn more about the character. After all, when Mark Ruffalo assumed the role after Edward Norton played the hero, audiences wondered if all the contents of The Incredible Hulk were still canon-compliant.

Now, it looks like fans may get a glimpse into Ruffalo's version of the Hulk and its backstory. Over on Amazon, a listing for Marvel's prelude comic to Thor: Ragnarok went up with a brief product description which can be read below:

"The stage is set for 2017's far-out fantasy epic, Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok! Catch up on the incredible events of Thor: The Dark World and learn where major players including Odin, Loki and Thor himself stand ahead of the next blockbuster chapter in Asgardian lore! And revisit the origin of Ragnarok's other headline star, the Incredible Hulk!"

Of course, fans latched on to the last line in particular. Readers are wondering if the prelude comic will specifically illustrate or adapt previous storylines to include Ruffalo's take on the Hulk. Some fans have suggested the comic may pull inspiration from The Incredible Hulk run circa 2000. In the past, Marvel has released other prelude comics for its MCU titles. Captain America: Civil War was gifted a prelude comic most recently thanks to a four-issues series.
