Thor: Ragnarok Will Give The God Of Thunder New Scars

06/18/2017 04:09 pm EDT

It's safe to say that Marvel's God of Thunder won't be getting through Ragnarok unscathed.

Speaking at the Supanova convention in Australia, Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth confirmed that Thor will have a few new scars by the time the events of Thor: Ragnarok have their course.

Considering that Thor is going to be thrown into a gladiatorial pit to fight the Hulk one one one without his hammer, this isn't terribly surprising. Very few people get out of a face-to-face confrontation with something to remember it by, even if they are the God of Thunder.

And that's only one threat that Thor will face. He's also dealing with Hela, who is strong enough to shatter Mjolnir, and Skurge the Executioner. Plus, there's always the possibility that one of the other major players in Ragnarok, such as the Fenris Wolf or Surtur, could show up in the film.

In Thor: Ragnarok currently a 4.21 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the second-most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. How excited are you for Thor: Ragnarok? Let us know by giving it your own anticipation rating below.

In Marvel Studio's Thor Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok is inspired by the classic The Mighty Thor comics of Walt Simonson and the Incredible Hulk storyline "Planet Hulk" by Greg Pak, Carlo Pagulayan, and Aaron Lopresti. "Planet Hulk" saw Hul shot into space by several of Marvel's biggest heroes. Though they intended him to land on an uninhabited planet where he could live out his days peacefully, he instead landed on Sakaar, a planet ruled by a cruel emperor. There, Hulk was forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena until he and his Warbound banded together to overthrow the emperor in an armed insurrection.

Thor Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
