Marvel fans may be wary of Sony Pictures and its plans for a Venom film, but that is not stopping the studio from moving forward with the project. The feature may not be tied to his Spider-Man roots, but it looks like the hero isn't needed for Venom's live-action romp. According to new reports, the villain's spinoff movie is set to begin production later this fall.

Thanks to Omega Underground, details about Venom's production has hit the Internet. The site confirmed with two sources that the comic book adaptation will begin filming on September 1. Venom is set to shoot in Atlanta and New York City; No known foreign shooting locales have been announced at this time, and there is no anticipated production wrap date.

Earlier this year, fans received several major updates about Venom in regards to casting. Tom Hardy has been casted as the villain-cum-hero. The star will play Eddie Brock, one of Venom's most famous aliases. Ruben Fleischer has been tapped to direct the film.

If you have been holding on to hope that Venom may still fold into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then you can let the dream go. Not long ago, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reaffirmed that Venom is strictly a Sony project. Kevin The producer mentioned Venom during an interview with AlloCine. When Feige was asked about the Sony project, he had this to say: "For now, there is no plan for Venom in the MCU. It's a Sony project."

Aside from Eddie Brock, no other casting announcements have been made for Venom. Sony is also developing another spinoff about Black Cat and Silver Sable, so the two vixens may debut in Venom as a lead-in for their standalone feature.

Venom is set to release next year as Sony gave the film an expedited premiere. Currently, the feature is set to debut on October 5, 2018 as director Ruben Fleischer oversees the project. The film takes its story from a script penned by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach has been drafted to produce the feature.
