Black And Silver Director Gets Advice From Wonder Woman Director

It may have taken years to happen, but Hollywood is starting to pick up on the appeal of female superheroes. This month, Warner Bros. ushered in Wonder Woman to theaters, and the historic film has broken all sorts of box office records. Moving forward, female heroes from the Marvel Universe will also get to step into the spotlight. Captain Marvel is slated to get her own MCU romp, and Sony Pictures is developing a spinoff film about Black Cat and Silver Sable. And, now, the latter's film director has revealed she's gotten some key advice from Wonder Woman's director.

In an interview with Vulture, Gina Prince-Bythewood revealed she met Patty Jenkins recently at a meeting for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Silver and Black director admitted she approached Jenkins for advice. "She dropped a couple gems for me, which I will keep to myself for now. But it was just an immediate connection," Prince-Bythewood said.

Apparently, the duo hit it off well. The Vulture reported that Jenkins and Prince-Bythewood have a lunch date set up soon to talk superheroines.

Later in the interview, Prince-Bythewood gave an update on the Sony film's production. The director confirmed Silver and Black is aiming for a fall 2017 production date, and she is already working on script revisions.

"I go to bed thinking about it, I wake up thinking about it, and during the day, I have my notebook where I'm jotting down ideas and visuals and music," Prince-Bythewood said.

"It's so up my alley in terms of these two female characters and who they are and what they're about. It's the perfect way for me to dive into the Marvel universe, to focus on these two women who I really respect and can't wait to bring to life."

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and is written by Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns, and Zack Snyder. The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).

Wonder Woman is in theaters now, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
