Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice pulled in $7 million from its international debut, coming in first place in all markets Wednesday. It opened in Spain, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belgium, taking first place in all markets.
Spain had the biggest debut in the country of 2016 with $1.8 million on the day, with France just behind at $1.7 million. Both held over 60% of all viewing in the top five films in their countries.
The film opens in Brazil, Russia, Korea, Mexico, and Germany on Thursday, and the UK, China, and US on Friday (though early showings start at 6pm Thursday in the States).
While critical success has eluded BvS, fan response has been much better so far, especially as fans react positively to the presence of Wonder Woman in the movie. The movie is currently projected to open around $350 million worldwide.
