New Beauty And The Beast Featurette "Brings Beauty To Life"

Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast was already perfect in many fans eyes, so there was some trepidation when the company announced their live-action remake.

In a new featurette "Bringing Beauty To Life", the cast of Beauty and the Beast talks about the pressure of delivering a film worthy of the original's effect on popular culture. That includes Belle actress Emma Watson, who said "I have loved Beauty and the Beast since I was about 4 years old. When you love something that much you really want to do it justice."

Director Bill Condon acknowledges those questions of "why remake it at all", saying "I just thought it was the most beautiful and perfect movie. The question becomes why remake something that's perfect. Part of it was this great opportunity to tell it in a live-action, fully photoreal version, and distinguish Belle again 25 years later as a 21st-century heroine."

Beauty and the Beast is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belles eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston's long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Beauty and the Beast will be released in U.S. theaters on March 17, 2017.
