The premiere of Ghost in the Shell is just a few weeks away, but fans looking for an inside look at the making of the film's elaborate props just got a special treat!

Mythbusters' Adam Savage brought his Tested YouTube channel to New Zealand's Weta Workshop headquarters for a behind-the-scenes look at many of the pieces used in the film. As it turns out, much of the costume and mask work was done through practical effects as opposed to CGI, meaning that there were plenty of awesome pieces for Savage to explore.

The first video, which you can watch below, takes Savage and the viewer through a series of masks and puppets used to depict the eerie Geisha robots within the film.

The second video gives viewers an idea of the inner workings of the 'thermoptic' suit worn by Major (Scarlett Johansson) in the film.

Savage is no stranger to the world of costume and prop making. Aside from his work on Mythbusters, Savage is an avid cosplayer, regularly dressing in elaborate and homemade pieces at conventions, including Totoro and Hellboy.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, Ghost in the Shell follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic's advancements in cyber technology.

Snow White and the Huntsman helmer, Rupert Sanders, is directing.

Ghost in the Shell will be released in the U.S. on March 31, 2017.
