While Marvel and DC are already deep into their cinematic universes, Valiant is just getting started. The comic publisher has a few live-action titles in some stage of pre-production, and their first film just got a little closer to becoming a reality.

According to Deadline, Sony has officially chosen Justin Tipping and Joshua Beirne-Golden to pen the script for Valiant's Harbinger. The young writers join producer Neal Moritz on the film, who's latest project - Fate Of The Furious - is breaking box office records.

Harbinger will be the first Valiant Comics movie that Sony releases, and they have a deal for four more films following that. The film will be a team-up of sorts, as the Harbinger title follows a team of young super-powered outcasts.

The Harbinger movie will be followed by a Bloodshot solo film. The goal is to give many of the characters their each individual movie, before coming back together for Harbinger Wars, based on the comic crossover event in 2013.

Harbinger may be the first movie from the Valiant Comics universe, but the characters will be seen in live-action form by audiences by the end of the year. Valiant has teased a web series called Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe, and it will introduce the world to many of the characters. However, this series won't tie in to the upcoming films.
