Guardians of the Galaxy was the first Marvel Studios film to really explore the Infinity Stones. Not only did the film showcase a Stones' power but it also dove into the mythology of the Stones.
Fans hoping to see more of the Infinity Stones explored in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be disappointed to hear that they probably won't get their wish.
Guardians director James Gunn recently opened up to fans during a live Facebook Q&A. In addition to confirming Tyler Bates returning to score the sequel, ruling out Avengers cameos, and expressing his desire to have Stan Lee appear in his next cosmic effort, he squashed the hopes of seeing more of the Infinity Stones in Vol. 2.
"We're not really so much about the Infinity Stones in Guardians 2," Gunn says. "Is that a spoiler?"
No, that's not really a spoiler. We'll allow it although we're dying to see how the Stones end up in Thanos' Gauntlet in time for Infinity War.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.
