Internet Reacts To Ben Affleck's Batman Comments
07/22/2017 05:59 pm EDT
Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that "The studio [Warner Brothers] is working on plans to usher out Affleck's Batman gracefully, a source says, addressing the change in some shape or form in one of the upcoming DC films." Going on to say essentially that he was too old for the role - and they wanted to continue the franchise with a younger Bruce Wayne. This of course led to the internet speculation, as the internet is tend to do - how would they do it?
Never mind that this was one day before the Warner Brothers panel was to occur - with Ben Affleck being one of the people on the panel. Not that this sort of speculation is new - Affleck went back and forth if he was directing The Batman, or if he was going to even star in it earlier this year. How much of that was rumors, reading of tone by reporters... honestly I don't even know at this point.
Whatever happened in the past -the man behind the cowl has spoken today. Warning, there is some f-bombs dropped in the video below.
"I'm so thrilled to do it, I know there was this misconception that maybe I didn't want... that I wasn't enthusiastic about it... it's... f**king amazing.... With Matt Reeves doing it I would be a f**cking ape on the ground for Matt Reeves."
Well, there you have it folks - Affleck has spoken... so everyone can rejoice that we still have our Batman (until of course the next set of rumors). For now, enjoy the internet response which was overjoyed to say the least.
And my personal favorite. Leo's greatest scene from The Wolf of Wall Street has never been more apporpriate.
