Between Suicide Squad and Blade Runner 2049, actor Jared Leto has carved out a space for himself in the geek sphere. He might be getting even more comfortable at comic conventions if the latest reports pan out, as Leto is circling a prominent role in Valiant's budding film universe.

Leto is in talks to star in Sony's adaptation of Bloodshot, one project in a proposed five-picture deal between Valiant and the movie studio, according to Deadline. Leto would be playing the titular character, a nanobot-infected killing machine who turns on his creators and becomes a violent force for good.

Power Rangers star Jason David Frank will next portray the character in the web series produced by Bat on the Sun, called Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe. This development is a clear indicator that both projects will be distinctly separate.

Sony's Bloodshot will be directed by Dave Wilson for Sony's Original Films with Toby Jaffe and Neal Moritz producing. Valiant's Dinesh Shamdasani will also produce, while Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari will serve as executive producers.

The film is supposed to be the second in the five-picture deal deal Valiant made with DMG Entertainment, which included a sequel for Bloodshot, two Harbinger movies, and then a crossover based on the event comic Harbinger Wars.

Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe is the first project from Valiant Digital, a new division of Valiant Entertainment. In the series, Colin King is Ninjak, MI-6's deadliest intelligence operative and weapons expert. When the ruthless assassin Roku exploits his greatest weakness, Ninjak will be forced to betray his closest allies. Now, on the run, he must face off against the most powerful heroes known to man for a high-octane, take-no-prisoners trial by fire more perilous and more unpredictable than any he's faced before.

Look for Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe later in 2017.
