Lionsgate has shuffled the release dates for the upcoming Power Rangers movie, and the The Divergent Series: Ascendant.
Ascendant will now serve as a summer blockbuster, opening June 9, 2017.
Power Rangers will take Ascendant's previous release date of March 24, 2017, moving approximately two months back from its previous release date of Jan. 13, 2017. The film was originally slated for a summer 2016 release.
The film reboot of the 1990s kids' action series is being directed by Dean Israelite. The new release date will pit it against Universal's reboot of The Mummy at the box office.
