A film based on the Polish fantasy series The Witcher, created by Andrzej Sapkowksi, is in the works for a 2017 release.
The adaptation is being produced by the Season Daniel Company, the same studio behind The Mummy franchise, and Platige Films.
Sapkowski's stories may be best known in the United States as the inspiration for CD Projekt's RED's The Witcher videogame series, which released its third installment earlier this year.
Both the books and the games follow Geralt of Rivia, one of the fantasy world's titular monster hunters. The series is known for its dark, "R-rated" brand of fantasy adventure.
