Tim Burton's Rep Says Beetlejuice 2 Is Not In Development

Friday morning, people across the globe woke up to news that Beetljuice 2 is in development, but now a rep for Tim Burton has thrown cold water on that report.
It all started with Showbiz Spy. They reported that Burton had told one of their anonymous sources that the Beetlejuice sequel has a completed script, Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton set to return, and a greenlight from Warner Brothers.
The story took a turn when various sites reached out to Burton's rep for confirmation, and what they got back was an official statement informing them that the quote attributed to the quirky filmmaker is fabricated.
"Tim did not provide a statement to confirm Beetlejuice 2 as the movie is not in development," wrote Burton's spokesperson (via The Independent). "Tim's focus is entirely on Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children and developing Dumbo."
