Lottery Winner Invests Millions Into Crystal Meth Trafficking Ring

Most people if they won the lottery would purchase their dream car, buy a new house, or go on a special vacation. One man from South Georgia had entirely different plans for his lottery winnings. He used the money to start a drug trafficking business.

45-year-old Ronnie Music Jr. decided to invest his $3 million lottery winnings from a scratch off lottery game last year to fund a crystal meth trafficking ring. He clearly had hopes of becoming the next Walter White, the methamphetamine mastermind from the TV show "Breaking Bad," but was clearly unsuccessful in his endeavor.

Ronnie Music Jr., of Waycross, pleaded guilty last week on federal drug trafficking and firearms charges, according to the federal prosecutors. Fox 59 also reports that "his co-conspirators were caught trying to sell 11 pounds of crystal meth worth about $500,000 in September 2015." Music was working with other co-conspirators to obtain and distribute meth in Ware County, Georgia. His hometown of Waycross is about 240 miles southeast of Atlanta.

U.S. Attorney Ed Tarver stated, "Music decided to test his luck by sinking millions of dollars and lottery winnings into the purchase and sale of crystal meth." Tarver also mentioned that the "unsound investment strategy" may end up resulting in a life sentence for Music.

Over the course of the investigation, agents seized more than $1 million in meth along with guns, ammunition, vehicles and $600k in cash. The ATF and DEA were among the agencies that served in investigating the case. The agencies eventually determined that Music was the source for the crystal meth trafficking ring.
