The entire Star Wars community jumped for joy in 2016. Partly because Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was one of the most successful films of the year, but also because of a brilliant casting decision by Lucasfilm.

Donald Glover, a fan-favorite in the comic community, was tapped to play a young version of Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo standalone movie. Billy Dee Williams played the original Lando in both Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi.

Everyone knows that Donald Glover is a nerd at heart, and that he will treat a character like this with the utmost care and respect, but he has also become an incredibly talented actor over the years. In face, Glover won the Golden Globe for Best Actor In A Leading Role In A Television Series - Musical or Comedy.

When on the red carpet for those same Golden Globe awards, Glover was asked about learning he had been given the role of Lando. The actor said he was shocked to have received the part.

While he may have been in shock, Glover also felt proud to be given the role. He grew up on Star Wars, and he knew he could protray the role well.

The interviewer went on to asked Glover if there would be more chances to play Lando after the first film, and he said he didn't know. He hinted, like most actors on a big project, that he couldn't tell even if he did know.

To end things on a positive note for fans, Glover told the interviewer that the movie was going to be good.
