Han Solo Spinoff Set Video Features New Scout Trooper

While we're poring over any and every detail we can regarding the latest film in the Star Wars saga, it's kind of easy to forget that another spinoff movie will be released just five months later.

Shortly after Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters, the Han Solo spinoff movie will return Lucasfilm to its regular May release of Star Wars movies. Directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the movie is currently in production with filming taking place in England and Spain.

Lucasfilm is still a long ways off from from revealing a plot synopsis or a trailer, so it's unclear what exactly the movie will be about at this point. We've previously seen hints that the Empire would have a large presence in the film, but there's yet to be a confirmation by way of Stormtrooper sighting.

Until now! Instagram user davidpennyesq just posted a video from the set at the Fawley Power Station in Hampshire, England, which reveal a slightly updated take on the Scout Troopers from the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi.

While it seems obvious that Stormtroopers would appear in a Star Wars movie, the video at least gives confirmation.

In the clip and photos, you can see the Scout Trooper riding a hover bike (don't worry, those wheels will likely be CG'ed out of there) that's similar to Rey's in The Force Awakens, but slightly more geometric in shape and design.

The Trooper's helmet is also of a different design than we're used to seeing from Return of the Jedi, but if Rogue One: A Star Wars Story taught us anything, it's that there is a different variation of Stormtrooper for every occasion.

The Han Solo movie will be released May 25, 2018.

The Han Solo spinoff is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
