Mark Hamill Shares Touching Tribute To Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds

It has been several months since Hollywood was knocked by two shocking deaths. For Star Wars fans, their worlds were shaken when news broke that Carrie Fisher had passed away after she suffered a heart attack on a transatlantic flight to California. Then, just a day after the beloved actress passed, Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds died from a stroke. The sudden deaths left scores of fans in mourning, and many were reminded of the tragic ordeal this weekend when a public memorial was held for the iconic mother-daughter duo.

To honor the ladies' memory, Mark Hamill took time yesterday to share a touching tribute to the fierce actresses. The Star Wars legend posted a poignant message about Fisher and Reynolds before he honored the former actress with behind-the-scenes photos from set.

"We Remember Them," Hamill wrote in his first post. "As long as we live, they too shall live. For they are a part of us all." The caption was attached to a tweet which held several photos of Fisher and Reynolds posing with one another throughout their lives.

In a second tweet, Hamill then share photos of him and Fisher goofing off behind-the-scenes of Star Wars. "Then there was the time she promised if I went 1st-she'd heckle my funeral. Fiercely funny-I know she would also like us all to laugh today."

The tributes coincided with a public memorial held for the two stars which Todd Fisher had planned. "The public is invited because that's how my mother would want it," Todd told fans, "She was very connected to her fans and felt they were a part of her, so we're opening it to the public."

The massive event saw The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles perform along with James Blunt. The latter wrote a special song for Fisher as the two became close friends when Blunt was recording an album of his. Other stars like Dan Akroyd also made an appearance to pay their respects to the unforgettable pair.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
