'Supernatural' EP Shares First Details About Castiel's Role in Season 13

As Season 12 of Supernatural came to a close, fans were devastated to see Castiel meet his end. However, as many already know, characters in Supernatural don't always stay dead.

Such is the case with Castiel this season, as executive producer Andrew Dabb revealed that the character isn't yet finished with the show.

While speaking with TVLine, Dabb said that the fan-favorite character is definitely dead right now, but that he's still got a part to play.

"That being said, when we pick up our season he's more dead than people usually get on our show. Castiel has a big role to play for us, but that may not be as soon as some people are hoping."

So, Castiel may not be back in action right away, which it unfortunate. But, sooner or later, the Winchester brothers are going to have him back in action.

Speaking of the Winchesters, Dabb revealed that Sam and Dean will have a tough time coping with the loss of their loved ones.

"There's no one they can call, so our guys are a bit on their own, a little spun out, both emotionally and in terms of the plot."

Supernatural returns to The CW on October 12 at 8 p.m.
