Brock Lesnar Issues Open Challenge To Bill Goldberg

WWE 2K17 made waves when it announced that the first pre-order bonus would indeed be a playable Goldberg.

That's all well and good for fans, but it turns out that the cover star of WWE 2K17, Brock Lesnar, took umbrage to the star's taking of the spotlight. The superstar, alongside his advocate Paul Heyman, decided to issue some words of warning to the returning Bill Goldberg, but first Heyman had to get a few words in.

"I think everyone should stand up and applaud Bill Goldberg for being a supporting player in the video game that stars the beast, the conqueror, Brock Lesnar!"

For Lesnar's part, he kept it short and sweet, saying "hey Bill, you're next."

While no official announcements have been made concerning an in-ring return for the athlete, many see this as a sign of future things to come. In many ways the same thing happened with The Ultimate Warrior's inclusion in WWE 2K15, which was the first step in a renewed relationship with the company, paving the way for his inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame before he, unfortunately, passed away.

Goldberg hasn't been in a WWE ring since his match with, ironically, Brock Lesnar. The two threw down at Wrestlemania XX, but the match wasn't well received, mostly because it was a slow plodding match, but also because fans knew that both were leaving the company immediately after.

WWE 2K17 releases on October 11th for Xbox One and PS4.
