Triple H Reveals Which RAW Superstar Was Nearly Fired

Triple H has been making the rounds promoting WrestleMania 33. This morning The Game dropped by ESPN to discuss his role as not only performer, but developer of new WWE talent. Trips mentioned that while it's easy to find athletes, it's difficult to find athletes with the charisma needed to become a WWE Superstar.

On the flip side, Triple H admitted that some superstars come in with less pure athletic ability but have all the talent in the world on the mic. The WWE Executive Vice President of Talent admitted that the lack of a typical WWE physique and ring prowess nearly cost one of RAW's brightest young superstars their career before it ever had a chance to take off. Triple H revealed to ESPN that he and former WWE Hall Of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, actually had to fight to keep Enzo Amore from getting fired.

"There's been guys that have made it that over the course of a couple of years that were constantly on the cut list," Levesque said. "Enzo Amore, when I brought him in, everyone at the tryout was saying, 'Get rid of this kid!' I was like, 'He's got a huge personality. If he can annoy us all this bad here, imagine what he can do on TV.' ... Every time he'd get his review, they'd be like, 'I'd cut him.' Dusty [Rhodes] and I would be like, 'Keep him.' Look at him now. ... Is he ever going to make you money from an in-ring performer standpoint? Probably not. But he's money on the mic.

"That's what we're looking for, and it's finding that in a guy or girl that can do what we do. The Rock was the same guy that they were chanting "Die Rocky Die!" until he got a personality, and then all of a sudden, he was The Rock."

Enzo has been a lightning rod since joining the WWE's main roster. His over the top promos have managed to endear him to half of the audience while grating on the other. Having the ability to draw a strong reaction from the crowd is exactly what WWE looks for in the modern wrestling era.

Enzo and his partner, Big Cass, will attempt to grab their first taste of WWE Championship Gold this weekend when they face The Club and Cesaro and Sheamus in a ladder match for the RAW Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 33.
