Is This Why There Haven't Been More Stone Cold Podcasts On The Network?

For those of you who have the WWE Network, you might have noticed a distinct lack of new episodes in the Stone Cold Podcast section. At one point these were highly touted by the network, debuting after pay-per-views and big episodes of Monday Night RAW. Now there hasn't been one new episode since August 8th, 2016.

That happens to be the Dean Ambrose episode of the show, which man felt was one of the most awkward interviews in recent memory. Austin was visibly frustrated throughout and had to pull teeth a bit to something worthwhile out of it. According to Dave Meltzer of f4wonline (via the WOR podcast), that ordeal has led WWE to go a slightly different route.

"You know the Ambrose one was, I didn't think it was a disaster, but many did, and for whatever reason, they haven't done one since. They were supposed to do it every month. It could just be they want JBL. JBL at least knows the framework of what they want and Steve is, you know Steve is, Steve tries to be real and they don't really want real. They want their version of real, which is different from actual real, and JBL will do their version of real."

JBL is currently helming the "Legends with JBL" show on the Network, which is similar to what Austin does on his podcast. If WWE is doing that more kayfabe angle, it seems odd, as they already have Talking Smack and RAW Talk for that. Austin's more real life take on things is what sets it apart, and that's why it continues to resonate with fans.

Hopefully, the Dean Ambrose interview won't be the last we see of his show on the Network.
