WWE: Paige Hits Back On "Strippers" Comment From MTV Star

01/25/2017 10:38 am EST

Rule of thumb. If you're going to go at WWE superstars on Twitter, you should really be prepared to get hit back. WWE superstars aren't used to just taking punches without returning jabs, especially when someone makes a generalization about an entire division.

That's pretty much what happened too. Cara Maria, who appears on MTV's Challenge: Battle Of The Bloodlines, recently took the Women's division to task for their wardrobes. She said "Is it a requirement for @wwe women to dress and act like strippers? I cant tell any of them apart. Try something new ladies 🙄."

As you can imagine, no one is going to take that sort of comment lightly, and WWE superstar Paige responded, saying "Yet.. we do everything in our power off the stripper pole to empower women/men, encourage female athletes, work with charities.."

What is confusing is that Maria evidently watches WWE on television, as she's commented on it before in her timeline. She then has to see the talent on hand in the division at the moment, with stars like Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Alexa Bliss impressing audiences at every show. You'd be hard pressed to find a time on television where any of these superstars acted like strippers, and decorative costumes are just part of the WWE experience for both men and women.

Maybe it's because she doesn't hold the current talent very highly, as she said previously "Legit want to be in the @wwe. Bucket list. Those other girls are nothing to write home about. I need to try out." She also happens to believe that none of them hold a candle to a past superstar, saying "At the end of the day None of these new girls can hold a candle to LITA. @WWE."

She might be instigating because she wants to get into the WWE, but if she isn't then she's just making some comments that seem out of touch.
