Joker and Harley Quinn Movie Lands 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' Writer-Director Duo

The film based off of DC Comics villains Joker and Harley Quinn just found its creative team.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, best known for their work on Crazy, Stupid, Love and This Is Us, are in final negotiations to write and direct the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are set to reprise their Suicide Squad roles in the film. This will come as welcomed news to DC Extended Universe fans, after word of a Joker origin movie - unconnected from the DCEU and not starring Leto - hit the Internet yesterday.

No plot details are currently being given about the film, which is being called a "criminal love story". This won't be the first time that Ficarra and Requa work with Robbie, as she appeared in their previous films Focus and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

According to the report, the film is expected to arrive after the release of Suicide Squad 2. While Suicide Squad 2 currently does not have a director or a release date, it is reportedly "on the development fast-track and out to directors." One source hints that the Joker and Harley film is also "moving fast", to comply with the actors' schedules.

A Gotham City Sirens film, which will star Robbie and an ensemble of female DC heroes and feature an appearance from Leto, is also in development.
