The holidays are upon us, so you may be feeling one of two things: stressed or blessedly joyful. The Christmas season can bring the best - or worst - out of people as loved ones get together, presents are wrapped, and kitchens are filled with food. At its best, the holidays are a time of bonding and easy-going fun that reminds us of how precious life is.

With the holidays heading home, ComicBook.com has taken a moment to stop, watch, and fan-cast the perfect roster of anime characters for this jolly season. We've made a list of five characters who you'd absolutely want to spend the holidays with, so grab a cup of hot chocolate and hide away your embarrassing baby photos while you still can.

Maes Hughes

First, there is Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist. If you are not a fan of the series, then don't worry; The man is the living embodiment of joy. A well-known family man, Hughes saves his badass military persona for work and presents his cutest sides at home to his wife and baby girl. He would be the perfect bundle of sunshine to swap secret santa gifts with, but don't be too surprised if he gifts you a framed photo of his precious, darling daughter.

Sōma Yukihira

The holidays are a time to eat, and nobody really wants to default into a microwaved meal when days like Christmas roll around. You see, that is why you need Sōma Yukihira. As the star of Food Wars!, Sōma is a well-trained chef with years of experience under his belt. He may be young and more than a little precocious, but Sōma's charm and unmatched desserts will have you sending him a Christmas invite for sure.

Tohru Honda

When it comes to get-togethers, it would be a sin to overlook Tohru Honda. The young girl may be an orphan, but her stay with the Zodiac Family in Fruits Basket has taught her a thing or six about family drama. Not only can the kind-hearted girl cook, but she is also adept at breaking up fights and charming innocent bystanders with her docile nature. If anyone were to bring up politics at your holiday luncheon, one doe-eyed look from Tohru would have them buttoning up before things got too intense.

Goku

Oh, Goku. How could you not be on any anime fan's invite list for Christmas? The Saiyan warrior may be terrifying in battle, but he is anything but once his superpowered blonde locks go limp. Dragon Ball lore notes Goku to be one of the more silly, innocent Saiyans who ever stepped foot in the galaxy - but he wouldn't hesitate to protect you from any creepy advances from your cousin's creepy date. Plus, if you have a thing for turnip dishes, then Goku has got you. The warrior-turned-farmer excels in growing the vegetable, and he'd bring over as many as you'd like.

Usagi Tsukino

In the name of the Moon, Usagi Tsukino will punish you if you don't have her over for the holidays. The carefree teenager may seem dim-witted at first glance, but don't underestimate her wicked intellect. Known by her alter-ego Sailor Moon, Usagi may not know how to cook anything other than ramen, but her heart is always in the right place. The cheerful heroine puts her loved ones ahead of herself every time, and she wouldn't hesitate to do the same for you.
