Gotham: Mr. Freeze's Post-Accident Look Officially Revealed

03/07/2016 09:00 pm EST

Spoilers for tonight's Gotham episode, "A Dead Man Feels No Cold."

We had seen Victor Fries last week in his parka, looking a bit like The Flash villain Captain Cold, but thanks to some heartbreaking moments in tonight's episode, he is now transformed.

The character, after accidentally killing his wife Nora (she switched canisters as she wanted to die), decided it was over for himself, too. He broke the containment of his suit that protected him from the super-cold liquid helium, letting it rush over him, killing him - or so it seemed. Instead, he woke up in a freezing (literally) room inside the Indian Hill facility run by Hugo Strange, looking a bit worse for wear.

As Strange explained it, Fries' constant exposure to the cryogenic preservative he'd been testing in various phases had gotten into his very being, altering him so he wouldn't just survive the cold, but thrive in it. Skin, hair, and eyes white, Fries can now only live in subzero temperatures.

Strange promised Fries will get out of the cell quickly, with some "alterations to the suit" to allow him to walk freely once more. Check out the gallery for detailed shots of his new look.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm on FOX.
