Halloween ComicFest is shaping up to be the biggest fall event for comic stores this year, and fans will have plenty of opportunities to grab some great free books at more than 1,900 different locations.

The event is in its fifth year and is still showing incredible growth as it plans to give away more than two million free books, and just announced that the number of total comics ordered for 2016 has risen by 33%.

"We're ecstatic about the 33% increase in total comics ordered from last year, which signals to us that Halloween ComicFest continues to grow as one the industry's major annual events," said Halloween ComicFest spokesperson Michael Moccio. "What's especially exciting is that the mini-comics increased almost 50% from last year. As an industry, turning the next generation into comic book fans is paramount and we're happy we can contribute to that initiative by distributing the all-ages mini-comics that are perfect to give to trick-or-treaters. No doubt, this year's increase in mini-comics orders is due to all the great properties featured, such as Archie Comics, Dynamite's Grumpy Cat, VIZ Media's Pokémon X&Y Pocket Comics and more."

Pre-orders for Halloween ComicFest mini-comics experienced a 50% increase from 2015 (1.5 million copies) with full-sized books experiencing a 10% increase at 825,000 copies.

On Saturday, October 29th, fans can head on into their comic store of choice to pick from 32 available free comics, 19 of which are full-sized and 13 mini comics. The offerings come from a variety of publishers, including Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Dynamite, IDW, and more.

If you're up for dressing up a bit, you can enter "The Greatest Halloween Costume Contest Ever" by taking a picture in costume while holding your free HCF comic and submitting it to the website. Possible prizes include a $100 or $500 dollar shopping spree at your local comic shop, but there will also be other prizes to come as well.

You can get a look at the free comics in the gallery.
