American pop singer Lesley Gore has passed away at the age of 68.
Gore's star rose at a young age, when she released the pop hit "It's My Party" at age 16 in 1963. She released several more popular tracks during her career, including the feminist leaning "You Don't Own Me," "Judy's Turn to Cry," and "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows."
In 1967, Gore appeared in two episodes of the Batman television series, "That Darn Catwoman" and "Scat! Darn Catwoman," as Catwoman's sidekick, Pussycat.
Gore died of lung cancer at New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhattan. She is survived by Lois Sasson, her partner of 33 years, as well as her mother and her brother.
