Jackie Earle Haley Cast as Preacher Villain Odin Quincannon

AMC's Preacher has added another comic book and genre alum to its cast, bringing Jackie Earle Haley in as Odin Quincannon. The actor's role will be recurring, appearing in between 6 and 10 episodes this first season.
The press release describes AMC's take on the character as "a small, decrepit man with the unscrupulous iron will necessary to be the most powerful man in Annville County, Texas. The chief employer in town, Odin runs Quincannon Meat & Power, a 125-year-old family run cattle slaughterhouse business."
In the pages of the comic books, he's also a depraved, perverted racist. He's a KKK member, or at least affiliated with them, and when he loses control of the town, is more of the mind of "if I can't have it no one can."
Haley famously appeared as Rorschach in Watchmen, the film adaptation from Zack Snyder, and later on Human Target, also a comic book adaptation. He was in the reboots of RoboCop and Dark Shadows, and became the new Freddy Krueger in the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. So when it comes to playing vicious characters in genre TV and film, Haley's in good shape.
Preacher is based on the comic book published by DC's Vertigo imprint, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. The comic book series features Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a former preacher who is on a mission to track down God - and is empowered to do so, Tulip (Ruth Negga), his on-again-off-again girlfriend, and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), a vampire who may or may not be Jesse's friend and ally.
Preacher hits TV screens on AMC in 2016.
