Kevin Smith Teases New Story Details About Jay And Silent Bob Movie

Last week, the Internet was sent into a frenzy when Kevin Smith announced he was developing a new Jay and Silent Bob film. The cult filmmaker and geek icon teased the project over on Facebook, and now Smith is giving fans more details about the reboot. The creator has taken to social media once more to hint at new details, and they will sound familiar to Batman v Superman fans.

Taking to Facebook, Smith posted artwork which will be featured on souvenir tumblers. The throwback art is styled after glasses which were distributed at Burger King restaurants back in the 1970s. But, towards the end of the post, Smith hid a few details about the Jay and Silent Bob reboot.

"In the script for my next flick [Jay and Silent Bob Reboot], the old Miramx movie 'Bluntman & Chronic' from [Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back] is getting a modern day reboot as 'Bluntman v Chronic.' I can't wait to shoot the movie-within-a-movie scenes…"

Of course, fans of Smith will recognize the Bluntman & Chronic as the entity is seen throughout the director's films. The two heroes are fictional comic book characters who exist within Smith's cinematic universe. The characters have appeared in Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The series is also mentioned in films like Clerks II and the animated feature Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie.

When the Jay and Silent Bob reboot debuts, fans can expect Bluntman and Chronic to make comments on Hollywood's current love of superhero films. Smith has been involved with DC Entertainment projects like The Flash and Supergirl, and 'Bluntman v Chronic' is an obvious nod to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The latter film rebooted Batman into the DC Extended Universe to mixed reviews, and Smith's movie will no doubt take shots at how the industry has reacted to superhero media.

After all, the last Jay and Silent Bob film saw the titular characters working to keep Miramax from adapting Bluntman & Chronic into a movie. Both Jay and Silent Bob worry the movie will damage their reputations, but they instead wind up becoming unwitting stars of the B-list film.
