In August, it was reported that Neill Blomkamp's Alien film, starring Sigourney Weaver ('Ripley') and Michael Biehn ('Hicks'), was being delayed by 20th Century Fox until Ridley Scott completed his Prometheus sequel, which is now titled Alien: Paradise Lost.

Now Blomkamp has confirmed, via Twitter, that Alien 5 is stuck in a holding pattern because of Alien: Paradise Lost. The filmmaker, known for District 9 (2009), Elysium (2013) and Chappie (2015), also informed his fans that he'll be "working on other things" in the interim.

Check out his tweet below.

Alien: Paradise Lost, the sequel to 2012's Prometheus, will star Naomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw) and Michael Fassbender (David the android). Filming is expected to begin in March and will take place in Australia.
