Square Enix Debuts Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Gameplay Trailer

Square Enix released a new trailer for their upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue ahead of E3, and in addition to the usual cast of characters like Sora, Riku, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, the footage also shows a new Keyblade wielder in action.

In the Birth By Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage portion of the trailer, we meet Aqua, who was one of the original Keyblade wielders. Her battle is a completely new portion of the game that will allow players to preview bits of the much delayed but much anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3. In addition to the story progression, it's just cool to see a female protagonist in the series.

In addition to the Birth By Sleep, the Prologue will also include a new tale called Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover. This HD movie side story will focus on the mysterious foretellers, and should help to explain the origins of the Keyblades themselves. The compilation will also feature Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance with a new HD coat of paint.

You can view the new trailer above as well as some additional screenshots below. Since the game ties in to the upcoming sequel, hopefully that means Square Enix will be showing off some new gameplay footage of Kingdom Hearts 3 at E3. One can only hope.
