Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Almost Filmed In Syracuse, NY

Though Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently filming in both Buffalo and New York City, the sequel almost set up shop in another New York locale: Syracuse.
According to producer Brad Fuller, the film seriously considered filming in the town just east of Buffalo while scouting Upstate New York location. Another contestant was Rochester, which is nestled between Buffalo and Syracuse. But according to Fuller, TMNT2's production ultimately chose Buffalo for the city's Kensington Expressway, which provided the right environment for a particular scene.
"There are high walls on the side of the highway and that is great for the story and it looks really cool," Fuller told Syracuse.com. Filming in Buffalo began last week, as the crew filmed numerous car chase scenes with the Turtles' battlewagon. The main cast however, remained in New York City to film their portions.
According to the Buffalo News, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will bring as much as $9 million to the small city after receiving a 40 percent tax credit for choosing to film there.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 hits theaters on June 3, 2016.
