X-Men: Apocalypse: Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Won't Be Back

Patrick Stewart was recently interviewed by Larry King. During their conversation, King asked Patrick Stewart if he'll appear in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. Stewart replied, "No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either."

We knew Singer was looking for younger actors to play Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey, because much of the film supposedly takes place in the 80s, but I doubt anyone figured Singer would exclude Stewart's Professor Xavier and McKellen's Magneto. The pair have appeared in every X-Men film 20th Century Fox has produced except for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class.

"I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters," Stewart added. "And so I don't think we'll be making an appearance."

X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters May 27, 2016
