Aquaman Officially Casts Michael Beach

Aquaman is already a few weeks into filming down in Australia, and its set is about to get a bit more crowded. A new report has just confirmed the DC Film has officially brought Michael Beach on as a cast member.
Thanks to a report from Deadline, news regarding Beach's involvement with Aquaman has been finally been revealed. The actor is said to be playing Jesse Kane, a member of a high-seas hijacker ring who has a fateful encounter with Aquaman. The actor is joining previously announced stars like Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, and more on the project.

If you have been keeping up with Aquaman's production, then Beach will not be a new name to hear. Netizens have been speculating about the actor's role in Aquaman for more than a month now. Buzz began swirling around Beach back in May when Abdul-Mateen II posted a photo of himself celebrating the start of filming. The actor, who has been cast as Black Manta, posed for a photo with indigenous Australians, and the candid shot featured Beach standing in the background.
Beach then furthered rumors about his involvement with Aquaman with a tweet of his own. Taking to social media, the actor fanned flames when he responded to a fan's question asking whether he was playing Black Manta's father. "Yes or no … correct!" Beach replied.
So far, Warner Bros. has not commented on whether Beach will be associated with Black Manta. Fans seem convinced there will be a relation for now, and Beach playing a father-figure to the Black Manta would make sense. In one iteration of the villain's origins, the character comes to hate Aquaman after the hero kills his father.
The DC Comics portrayed the villain as a cutthroat treasure hunter who worked with his father on high-stakes missions. When the pair were hired by a man to steal blood from Aquaman, they were intercepted by the hero's father. Arthur Curry's dad died in the exchange, prompting Aquaman to seek revenge. When Arthur confronts Black Manta and his father over the death, Aquaman accidentally kills the villain's dad and creates a lifelong enemy in the process.
For now, fans will have to wait and see if Beach does has a more involved role with Black Manta than Warner Bros. has said. The studio hasn't confirmed any details about Beach's character aside from his name and career, so there is plenty of room for the role to tie in with Aquaman's most famous nemesis.
Aquaman currently has a 3.83 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipating rankings, while Justice League currently has a 4.16 out of 5. The official description can be found below.
