When it comes to superhero castings, there are few actors out there who sport a history like Armie Hammer. The actor was once tapped to play Batman in Justice League Mortal before the film fell through. Since then, the actor has been fan-casted for roles like Green Lantern and Shazam by netizens, and much of the attention has been accidental. Still, the spotlight hasn't been totally unwanted.

After all, when it comes down to it, Hammer says he would be open to playing Shazam if the role came around.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, Hammer told the site he is "keeping" his "options open" when it comes to roles. However, "no one's said anything" to the actor officially about the par. The star was asked about Shazam specifically as Hammer found himself attached to the character thanks to the DCEU's own Black Adam.

Earlier this year, netizens began fan-casting Hammer as Shazam after Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson made an appeal for the actor. The star told We Got This Covered he could see Hammer playing the DC hero.

"Let's see. But for example, I'm going to throw out a name out there, and I want to see how the fans will react to it,. A guy who I met, I went 'Wow! That guy is such a cool guy! He is a lot bigger than I thought he would be,'" Johnson said.

"When I walked away, I remember telling our producer, who I have worked with for a long time, we both looked at each other and was like 'Possibly Shazam?!' and we went 'Yes!'. I'm not even going to say his name, I'm just going to say Lone Ranger."

According to Hammer, Johnson sent a legion of fans his way with a vengeance. "Dude, so Dwayne said that thing and literally blew up my social media," the actor told CinemaBlend. "I couldn't even open my Instagram...I thought my phone was gonna melt."

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, based on a story by Snyder and Terrio, and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
