Arrow: David Ramsey On Season 5's Big Changes

With only days to go until Wednesday's season premiere, The CW Television Network has released a new Arrow featurette in which David Ramsey, who portrays John Diggle, previews what's to come in the fifth season.

"Well, we're all kind of in disarray at the end of season four, beginning of season five," he says in the video above. "Diggle's on assignment. Thea has left the team. And it just boils down now to Oliver and Felicity.

"Mayor Queen, can you be an absentee mayor?" he asks. "Is that possible? How does he do in double duty? And that's some of the stuff they're dealing with in the beginning of these episodes, right? Is that he's not there; he's missing like major meetings, you know, as a mayor, and some of his obligations as mayor of Starling City. Mayor Diggle. No. I'm just gonna go ahead and say no to that."

NEW BEGINNINGS — After Laurel's (Katie Cassidy) death and the departures of both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) from Team Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes to the streets solo to protect Star City's citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists. However, when a deadly new criminal, Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman), enters the picture, Oliver realizes the best thing for the city might be a new team of superheroes. Meanwhile, the flashbacks take us to Russia where Oliver faces off against the Bratva.

James Bamford directed the "Legacy" episode, with a story by Greg Berlanti and a teleplay by Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle.

Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), Andrew Kreisberg (The Flash, Supergirl), Wendy Mericle (Desperate Housewives, Eli Stone) and Sarah Schechter (Supergirl, Blindspot).

Get caught up with David Ramsey before the season premiere of Arrow, Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW.
