Arrow EP Teases Returning Characters In Season Finale

The fifth season of Arrow is hurtling toward a huge confrontation between Oliver Queen and his tormentor for the last year, Adrian Chase.

The villain known as Prometheus embarked on a wholly personal vendetta against Queen and his allies, attempting to destroy everything the vigilante-turned-hero holds dear.

While that doesn't appear to let up as the show enters its endgame, it does look like Star City will be safe in the finale. For once. But we might see some returning friends enter the fray to lend a hand.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, creator and executive producer Marc Guggenheim stated this year's last episode will be a change of pace from previous seasons.

"We're not going to destroy the city. We're not even going to threaten the city," Guggenheim said. "In fact, I can also tell you the finale doesn't even take place in the city. Finally, the citizens of Star City can breathe easily in May."

And that wasn't the only reveal Guggenheim let slip, as he also hinted at some familiar faces lending a hand in Team Arrow's struggle against Prometheus.

"You can expect a good number of returning characters, characters you haven't seen in a while, back in the episode."

The latest, brutal episode of Arrow featured the return of Evelyn Sharp's Artemis, though it wasn't as an ally. After being revealed as a traitor in Team Arrow's ranks, the character took off and wasn't seen until this week's episode as a part of Chase's attempts to torture and break Oliver.

He put the two of them in a cell together and told Oliver that if he didn't kill Artemis, Chase would. Oliver refused, and Chase did the deed himself—or so Oliver thought.

It was all a ploy to break Arrow and make him admit that he's a killer at heart.

Hopefully when his other friends return, they're actually on the side of the angels and help Team Arrow get the upper hand on their sadistic foe.
