Malcolm Attempts To Reconcile With Thea In Arrow Season Finale

Next week is packed with three finales in the CW's lineup of DC Comics superheroes, but fans might be looking forward to the latest explosion in the show that started it all.

Arrow's fifth season has forced Oliver Queen and his allies to confront their pasts while the threat of Prometheus plagues them. And while Adrian Chase's machinations might cause the team to confront their own mistakes, they're also turning to old rivals for help.

A lot of fuss has been made over the return of Manu Bennett as Deathstroke, but John Barrowman is also returning to the fold after Malcom Merlyn's time-altering schemes with the Legion of Doom were foiled in Legends of Tomorrow's second season finale.

In the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Report, they state that Merlyn will attempt to atone for the sins of the past and try to reconcile with one of the people he hurt the most in earlier episodes of Arrow.

I can tell you that in the wake of his Legion of Doom exploits, Malcolm will make a concerted effort to reconcile with Thea, even going so far as to make a very fatherly decision in the season ender.

Barrowman recently made some news when he revealed that his character would not be returning for Arrow's sixth season, leading some to speculate that the character could be killed off in the upcoming finale.

But given the state of time travel in the CW's DC Universe, as well as Deathstroke actor Bennett straight up lying about his appearance in the show, it could all just be an attempt to bait and switch. Merlyn might very well put himself in harm's way to protect Thea Queen from Prometheus, but he could also be appearing in the upcoming season.

We'll learn more when Arrow's season finale airs this Wednesday.

Arrow's season finale, titled "Lian Yu," will premiere on May 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) culminates in a final epic battle on Lian Yu. After recent events, Oliver decides to recruit a group of unlikely allies – Slade (guest star Manu Bennett), Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law), Merlyn (John Barrowman) and Digger Harkness (guest star Nick. E. Tarabay) – to defeat Chase. However, Chase has his own army – Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy), Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin) and Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig) – and the forces collide in an explosive season finale.

Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Marc Guggenheim.

Based on the characters from DC, ARROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Supergirl), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters), Andrew Kreisberg (The Flash, Supergirl), Wendy Mericle (Desperate Housewives, Eli Stone) and Sarah Schechter (Supergirl, Blindspot).
